Explore The Possibilities
Welcome to the Tuesday Talks blog. (apologies for the delay) This blog is intended to speak about subjects you may have wondered about, but never knew who to talk with, because it opens up so many questions and opinions, (not always good opinions) I’ve been showing up on my social media site every Tuesday at 10:30 for over 4 years and creating the blog for over 2 years. It seems like yesterday when I first hit the live button. We explore insights on topics from Spirit to grief to coming back home and healing, Manifesting, intuition and growth. It’s a brand-new adventure to explore along with you through experiences, things I’ve learned and read. I hope you enjoy this time together as much as I do. If you can’t find the replays in the group, you can check it out on the website or my YouTube channel. ( ConnectingtoSpiritwithStacey — YouTube )
Today, we are going to talk about exploration through the Book of Explorations by Charlene Geiss and Caludia Jessup (The Inner Outings Method)
Exploration is defined as “the action of traveling in or through unfamiliar area in order to learn about it.” To investigate, study, examine for consideration. An exploration of the religious (spiritual) dimensions of our lives.” Upon reading the meaning, I thought that is what I should have called Tuesday Talks, — The exploration of the spiritual dimension of our lives.
Like most things I explore and research, it is generally prompted by a book or an oracle deck. This is no different, however, it is a book and a deck. The difference this time is instead of randomly choosing cards I looked at them and chose the 3 that called to me. Those cards are “My greatest fear”, “How I see myself” and “Explore the possibilities.”
These cards all create a pause, shadow work (greatest fear), inner healing (how I see myself) and manifesting (explore the possibilities). The book offers great explanations and exercises to explore. Marie Curie said, “Nothing in life is to be feared. It is to be understood.” and Elanor Roosevelt said, “You can strength, courage and confidence by every experience in which you really stop to look fear in the face. You must do the things you think you cannot do.” The book tells you to close your eyes and imagine your life without this fear. Write an intimate letter to the fear and phobia explaining how you are feeling. These exercises can be very healing. As I am going to offer you my explanation, you can google the meanings in the book “The Inner Outings Method”
Let’s look at the first card, “My greatest fear”. Pause on that thought for a moment, take the time to really think about it. I have a great fear and a phobia that instantly comes to my mind. My greatest fear would be my husband, kids or grandkids needing me and I am not able to get to them. This is something, I never want to happen.
My greatest phobia is bats. Yuck. I know they have a purpose, but when they enter my home, they are trespassing and considered a treat. It is not as bad as it was at one time, but it still haunts me. I realized once I researched the spiritual meaning of the bat, I could relate. The bat signifies a ritual death of something. It is the rebirth and transformation. Seeing the hidden traditions. New beginnings, the importance of intuition. The emergence of facing the inner shadow of self in order to emerge into the light. This phobia was at its peak during my “dark night of the soul” period. A time where anxiety and depression were running my life. Preparing me to face the past and release it in order to reconnect with myself in a healing manner. The book suggests writing an intimate letter to the fear, explaining how you feel and where it originated. I did not do this however, I feel researching its complexities gave me the wisdom to release what was fueling this phobia.
As for my fear, I have decided to write a letter to my husband, kids and grandkids. A special letter for them after I pass. A love letter so to speak from the other side. I’ve had this idea milling around in my head for a very long time, and this card made is right in front of my face saying, “When are you going to do this? Tomorrow is not promised.” Before the end of the year these letters will be written. They may change from time to time with additions of memories, but they will be written.
The next card is “How I see myself?” This is part of shadow work. Have we become so conditioned to see only the flaws within ourselves that we miss the beauty of what others see in us? Oh, to see myself through the eyes of others; would that help me retract the negative things I tell myself or add to it? We tend to only pay attention to our outward impressions, and we forget about the inward attention our heart longs to receive from us. I’d like to challenge you to go on an inner journey. Think of wonderful strengths you embody. How would you describe your best friend’s attributes? After all you are befriending yourself in this exercise. I thought about it for a bit, and these are my five. I feel I am a good listener. I feel people who may not even know me feel comfortable speaking their heart to me. I am loyal and protective. If you are part of my tribe, I will do everything within my power to be sure you are ok. I am the 2 am phone call. I will answer. (unless my phone is on silent by mistake) I am a people watcher. I observe how others interact with each other. I am curious as to how their story brought them to this very moment. I am a healer. Deep within my soul, this is my ultimate passion. No ego, I know that the people I can help in the healing process will cross my path. And I love music, dancing and reading. Music takes me to an entirely different dimension within my energy. Movement is so important to keeping me grounded and reading fills my thirst for information and wisdom from others.
I skipped the one that I am often told. So many people tell me that I have a very calming voice. That one surprises me to this day. I can be loud and brash at times that the word calming seems foreign to me but there I go placing a negative spin on a positive compliment I receive. I have learned to accept this as I know it is part of the healer within my inner core.
And the final card is my favorite. It is Explore the possibilities. Just that statement gives me the swirlies of excitement in my head. Explore, dream, manifest the possibilities. There is a statement in the book, “Consider, for now, that nothing lies beyond your dreams…. You remain inside your cave to explore.” Your cave is your mind where imagination and dreams live. Be a visionary.
Now, is the awesome part. If you will, allow yourself to think of these 3 cards together. What happens when you explore new possibilities? Does fear creep in? Ask yourself why it showed up uninvited. How do you see yourself when you think of these possibilities? Do you go for it, or are you at a standstill and allow fear to take over? I urge you to go deeper if fear has paused you. Really ask yourself, “Where did this fear originate?” Having now a new understanding of the symbolism of the bat helped me to see myself with a new perspective. Every one of us has conquered a few or ten. Maybe your first sleepover, starting school, a new job, a date, driving alone for the first time, traveling, the list can go on. Think of all the different fears that you have overcome. Things can be scary, but in your imagination, when you were first dreaming of it, you had an excitement for an adventure. You saw the possibilities.
Today is the day to think of the great possibilities that a new adventure can bring to you. Walk through the fear of the past things that stopped you and see yourself with a new set of eyes, a new vision of yourself. Explore the “unknown: part of yourself that has been hiding in wait. See your vision, see yourself in action and see yourself without fear of what you are fully capable of achieving.
Think of the beginning monologue of Star Trek, “Space — The final frontier. These are the voyages of the starship Enterprise. Its 5-year mission: To explore strange new worlds. To seek out new life and new civilizations, to boldly go where no man has gone before.
Boldly go where you have never gone before…
Explore new adventures….
Live the life you love and love the life you live.
Blessings
